- Lightweight and very dry
- Made up of recognizable plant pieces
- Easily moved or brushed apart
- Free of obvious insect activity
- Associated with nearby decorations or potpourri
An actual nest or infestation may show other signs, such as live insects, shed skins, droppings, eggs, or ongoing activity.
